Blueprint Summit
January 26, 2009
Fresno Convention Center
Program: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
About
A milestone in planning for the future of the San Joaquin Valley occurred in Fresno on January 26, 2009, when over 500 people came together to make their recommendation for how the San Joaquin Valley should grow over the next 50 years.
During the Blueprint Regional Summit those in attendance had the opportunity to weigh-in with their opinions of different types of housing, learn about the realities of smart growth policies, hear about the impact another regional Blueprint is having, and learn from and ask questions of a panel of experts that had been involved in the Blueprint process.

Most importantly during the day participants had the chance to learn about and evaluate the four regional growth options that ranged in the average residential units per acre that would exist in the Valley in 2050.

The final vote, taken at the end of the Summit with interactive "clicker" technology, resulted in the majority of participants selecting the scenario that had the highest residential densities, Scenario C. 53% of those participating in the selection process selected Scenario C.

Participants also weighed-in on two additional clicker exercises during the Summit. The Housing Image Survey gauged how participants felt about a wide range of housing options and why they did or did not like them. The Who is Here Today survey asked some basic questions of those in the room to get a sense of who was participating in the summit.
